HOW MANY WEEKS IS IDEAL FOR A MATERNITY SESSION?

Maternity sessions are typically done between 29 and 35 weeks. The timing is different for everyone and we recommend that you don’t wait too late because you will never know when the baby will actually come.   

 

HOW SOON SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?

ASAP!  My schedule fills up fast so the sooner the better.

 

DOES TIME OF THE DAY MATTER WHEN SCHEDULING A MATERNITY SHOOT?

If you want a beach photo session, we need to shoot at either sunrise or sunset.  If you prefer a more woodsy feel, we can shoot most any time of day.

 

 DO YOU PROVIDE DRESSES?

Most clients purchase and wear their own dress.  We do have a few dress options if you're interested in seeing those.

 

CAN MY HUSBAND BE IN THE PICTURES?

Of course!  I do keep maternity sessions mostly about mom and belly.  But dad and siblings can certainly be a part of the session as well. 

 

WILL YOU HELP ME POSE?

Absolutely!  My goal from the the start of scheduling your shoot will to make sure you feel comfortable.  I will tell you how to pose from the start and make sure you not only feel comfortable but have fun as well.

CAN I PURCHASE AN ALBUM OR PRINTS FROM YOU?

Yes!  We offer custom designed albums, canvases, prints and more.

 

 

When is the best time to photograph my newborn baby?

I prefer to photograph newborns within the first two weeks of life with days 7-10 being the ideal age if possible.  It becomes much harder to capture the adorable curled up sleepy baby poses after this time.  If your little one is past the 10 days, don't worry!  We have some tricks and alternate poses to still get the "newborn" session look.  So just reach out asap, and we will make it happen!

When should I schedule my newborn session?

ASAP!  Obviously we don't know the arrival date of your baby unless you're having a scheduled C-Section.  But I like to at least have a penciled in "due date" with an expected schedule shoot day 7 days out.  Once you do deliver your baby, please just send us a quick email about arrival so we can set that shoot date in stone. 

What can I expect at my newborn session?

I send a very detailed pdf of instructions/what to expect and how to prepare.  So don't worry about any of that.   We keep the shooting area very warm and seating area for parents cool for comfort.  We spend as much time as needed soothing and feeding the baby through all the transitions to get as many shots and setups as possible.  We love photographing newborns and not a session goes by where someone doesn't comment on our patience and use a term "baby whisperer".  

Where will my newborn session take place? 

My studio is in Jacksonville Beach.  It's full of props, wraps, and decor for baby shoots.  All you have to do is show up with your baby, bottle, and we take over from there.

 

 

 

 

What is a milestone shoot?

Milestone shoots happen anytime in the first year, after the newborn stage. We very commonly do them twice in the first year: once when baby first learns to sit up unassisted (typically around 6-8 months) and another for their first birthday/cake smash photos.

When do I schedule my milestone shoot?

Asap! The studio stays busy, and we like to make sure we get you in the time of day that your baby is happiest.  So please let us know nap and feeding schedule to make sure baby is rested and fed before shooting.  

What should I bring to my milestone shoot?

We have a studio full of props and outfits to choose from.  If you have any specific outfit or decor requests, please feel free to bring those.  A plain white onesie and/or diaper cover is always great to have on hand.  Please also bring a bottle and/or easy snack puffs to use as we go to sooth and keep happy.  We send a very detailed pdf of what to expect and bring to cake smash sessions.

When can I expect my images?

Typical turn around time for sessions is 2 weeks.  You will also have the option to purchase professional prints from us directly from your online gallery (this is highly recommended as it is the best way to ensure quality and accurate color on your images). A professional album is also a great way to fully encapsulate the first year of images.. and we have them available to order if you’d like! 

Can I post the images online?

Yes, of course! We loved when our images are shared! We just ask that you tag us in them/give us credit in the caption.
